Our Staff
All of our teachers are trained and nurturing educators. They are chosen for their ability to help young children develop and thrive in a welcoming environment that encourages fun, exploration, learning, and social interaction.

Susan DeSimone
Owner & Director
Ms. Susan has been with The Children's Village since 2016 as a Preschool Teacher, Education Coordinator, Director and finally, Owner. She graduated from The University of Rhode Island in 2004 with a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies and then later received her teaching certificate in 2008, also from URI.
Susan was born in Boston, MA and moved to RI in 2000. She immediately fell in love with the beaches and the laid back feeling of South County, where she currently resides with her two young children.

Maiya Trombino
Assistant Director
Education Coordinator & Lead PreK Teacher
Ms. Maiya graduated from Salve Regina University with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Special Education. She most enjoys reading to children and watching them create their own masterpieces. Maiya believes that each child's creativity should be encouraged and celebrated!
Maiya has grown up in Rhode Island and lived here all her life. She enjoys going to the beach, fishing and hiking!

Arianna Mendez
Lead Preschool Teacher
Ms. Arianna has been a toddler teacher with The Children's Village since 2017. She recently finished her degree in Early Childhood Education at Rhode Island College and switched to our Preschool classroom. She hopes to one day receive her masters degree in Psychology.
Arianna is passionate about helping children grow into life long learners. She believes in finding creative ways to support children's problem solving skills and providing them with a variety of learning experiences. When Arianna is not at work or school she enjoys traveling, going to the beach and shopping!
Lead Preschool Teacher

Monica Meneses-Curti
Lead Toddler Teacher
Ms. Monica previously studied Early Childhood at the college level. Monica believes that exposing toddlers to a wide variety of toys, tools and sensory experiences is the best way to foster their learning and development. Her favorite activity to do with the toddlers is music and movement!
Monica lives in Warwick with her partner, two young children and two dogs. Disney World is her favorite place which she visits frequently!

Melanie Morey
Lead Infant Teacher
Ms. Melanie, "Mama Mel", has worked in child care centers for over 20 years. Throughout her career, she has spent time with all age groups, finally settling into the Infant room. Her favorite activities to do with young children include singing, painting, blowing bubbles and snuggling.
When Ms. Mel is not working, she is spending time with her husband and two sons in Warwick. She also enjoys walking her two dogs, Copper and Sissy. Melanie is also a new grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren!
